The Jomolhari trek is relatively a moderate 7 to12 days trek depending on where you choose to end the trek. The trek will take you over Yelila Pass at 4,820m and Nyelila pass. Your trek will begin from Gunitsawa village in Paro. The trail will take you through spectacular landscapes, fauna, and flora before reaching the base of Mt. Jomolhari at 7,326m.

From the base, you can either return to Paro or extend your trek to Thimphu passing through Lingzhi.

Schedule
Day 1

Day 1: Arrive in Paro

Dragon Rider Representatives will meet you at the Paro International Airport. After a quick stop at your hotel and lunch, you’ll spend the day exploring Paro valley.

Day 2

Day 2: Hike to Paro Taktsang

An avid hiker will find this experience deeply rewarding. Bask in the scent of pine trees as you climb the trail in and out of the woods. Let your imagination run wild as your guide narrates the Buddhist mythology surrounding this place to keep you company on your hike.

When you get to the top, let the cold mountain air, the waterfall cascading down the cliff, and the ambiance of a secluded monastery inspire a spiritual experience for you.

Day 3

Day 3: Thangthankha

On the first day of the trek, you will drive up to Shana and begin your trek along the Paro river to your campsite. If the weather permits, trekkers will have a view of Mount Jomolhari from the campsite.

Day 4

Day 4: Thangthangkha – Jangothang

The hike to the base of Mount Jomolhari is scenic. You will pass through many yak herders’ winter houses. The campsite for the night is below a ruin of an ancient fortress at 4080 meters.

Day 5

Day 5: Jangothang – halt

You will halt at the base for acclimatisation.

Day 6

Day 6: Jangothang – Lingshi

After a day of acclimatisation and recovery, you’ll head to Lingzhi. On this stretch, you’ll cross over Nyelila Pass at 4700 metres before descending to your campsite.

You’ll cover 18 kilometres and walk for about 7 hours.

Day 7

Day 7: Lingshi – Shodu

The trail to Barshong follows the Thimphu River. The campsite is at an altitude of 3710 metres.

Day 8

Day 8: Shodu – Barshong

The trail to Barshong follows the Thimphu River. The campsite is at an altitude of 3710 metres.

Day 9

Day 9: Barshong – Dolamkencho

Trekkers will gradually descent through the thick forests to Dolamkencho

Day 10

Day 10: Dolamkencho – Dodena

On the final leg of the trek, you’ll enter Jigme Dorji National Park and exit from Dodena. You will be driven to your hotel for a well-earned hot shower and a good night’s sleep.

Day 11

Day 11: Thimphu Sightseeing

Day 11: You’ll spend the day exploring the capital Thimphu city.

Day 12

Day 12: End of Trip
